Departure in T- 5.... 4....

FOUR DAYS till I leave, folks!! It still doesn't feel like it's really happening, mostly because I know the images I have in my head will be nothing like what it actually looks like. Details like being on the plane, the taxi ride to the hotel in Reykjavik, things like that make it unreal in my mind. I do have waves of realization where i remember that I'm going to EUROPE for the summer. In four days!! Seven weeks is not really that long, it's only half a Pratt semester, time-wise, but it is pretty much all of summer vacation. Especially since it's rained every day here, non-stop, for ohhh about 3.9 years now. I haven't seen the sun in weeks.

In other news, I went to Ikea today with the parentals, came back with very cute (and nice looking!) furnitures for my apartment back in new york. I'm very excited to move in, with Heather, and it'll make going back to school less depressing. So will the notion that come second semester, I'll only have class once, maybe twice a week. That means getting a REAL job, so I don't actually know that that's less depressing, but having fewer classes is definitely exciting!

So, in wrapping up the last few odds and ends here (and waiting for the DVDs I order to hopefully arrive in time for me to have them on the plane ride!!) I'm starting to actually believe that I'm going. To EUROPE. I believe it, I just don't feel it.

P.S. I'm actually forcing myself to work on getting my website up & running enough so that people can actually see a working layout, even if it does need a LOT of additions (like gallerys of my work, for example) but at least it's not a blank page. It'll be functional enough by the end of you tonight that I can direct all of your attention to http://allegra-design.us! Hooray!

Back in Brooklyn

So I'm back at Pratt, (taking a break from unpacking) and adjusting to being back at school. Classes don't start til tuesday, though, which is good to give me some time to get ready.

I had a nice weekend with my mom, who drove me and all my van-full of stuff down. We stayed at my aunt's house Friday night, then checked in and moved in all my stuff from 9-11 yesterday. My cousin helped and the three of us went to breakfast. Then was my first trip to Ikea (the new one in Brooklyn!) for 3 hours, a little unpacking and then dinner with my aunt and cousin at a restaurant we (my family) had been to near the Mariott at the Brooklyn Bridge. We were going to go to Grimaldi's but the line was longer than I'd ever seen it, probably like an hour and a half wait, at least. And it wasn't even that late. This morning after we got here from my aunt's house again, my mom and I had breakfast from Bergen on my balcony (!) with my new Ikea furniture. We set up my room a little more, and then we were going to go to Grimaldi's (again) but the line was too long (though not AS bad as last night) and there was no parking, and neither of us was really hungry, so we just headed back to Pratt and said goodbye, and my mom headed home to the 'house full of boys'.

I still have lots to unpack, mostly clothes, but I can already tell my room is going to be so nice. I'll post a picture when it's done if I remember. I'm not really looking forward to the work starting up again (it hits you like a wall, if walls could hit) but I'm kind of excited to see what my new classes are going to be like.
